Job Description
Job Title: Youth Pastor
Position Status: Part-time Salaried
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Purpose: To ignite a desire for a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ within the hearts of children and youth and to train and equip young disciples to live out their faith and bring glory to God.
Responsibilities:
1. Disciple youth to develop a vibrant living relationship with God, built upon a solid Biblical foundation and worldview that will carry them throughout life.
a. Create ministries that focus on teaching Bible knowledge and demonstrating living Christian faith in all areas of life.
b. Cultivate spiritual atmosphere for youth to experience life-changing encounters with God.
c. Create opportunities for adolescents to find their gifts and to participate in worship and in service.
2. Train and oversee volunteers to disciple youth.
3. Communicate with the youth and parents/caregivers in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, texting, etc.) so parents/ caregivers experience a clear sense of partnership in the discipleship of their children.
4. The Youth Pastor will work with a team of youth leaders to plan activities that uphold and carry out the vision of the youth ministry and the church. These meetings will occur a minimum of four times a year.
5. Youth Pastor will confirm activities with the pastoral and office staff to ensure that there are no conflicts with other church functions, facility space or policy.
6. Serve as a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to youth ministries.
7. Work alongside the Kids’ pastor and young adult leader to create a smooth pathway for our children, youth, and young adults to grow and thrive in our church family.
8. Ensure that the Child Protection Policy is observed in all youth ministry settings.
9. Pray for the youth and families and other team members.
Qualifications:
· A strong and growing personal commitment to Jesus.
· Demonstrates evidence of a Christ-like attitude in words and actions.
· A deep love for children, youth, and families and a strong desire to show them the love of God and help them establish a strong foundation of Christian faith.
· Ability to relate well not only to children and youth, but also to teachers and parents.
· A strong vision for the ministry, a self-starter with organizational, creative and administrative skills.
· Complies with a background check.
· Able to deal with problems efficiently and effectively while maintaining good relationships.
· Ability to enable and empower others to carry out the work of the ministry and be supportive of their efforts.
· Agreement with the values of the Hopewell Network, and joining of membership committed to the vision, values, and beliefs of Hopewell Christian Fellowship Telford.
