The Youth Assistant supports this mission by mentoring youth, helping run programs, assisting with events, and engaging with local families. Position Title: Youth Assistant
Location: 1221 Seneca St, Buffalo, NY
Key Position Outcomes: (Why this position exists)
The Youth Assistant assists with youth programs at Steps and connects with area youth and parents. Mentors youth to nourish spiritual growth. Evangelism.
Typical Work Activities: (on-going key tasks that result in the outcomes – not processes or how to’s)
- Developing relationships with neighborhood youth and families
- Setting up for ministry events
- Assisting Community Coordinator and Youth Leader with ministry events
- Teaching youth
- Cleaning/tidying before and after activities
- Communicating with parents and youth
- Promoting events in the neighborhood and through social media
- Assisting with recruiting volunteers and donors
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Ministry experience, event coordinating, missionary/church work with children/youth
Knowledge/Skills: Use of Microsoft Office programs, strong interpersonal skills
Helpful Personal Qualities/Characteristics: Punctual, organized, personable, self-motivated, able to think on their feet, spiritually mature
Expectations:
- Exemplify a Christian lifestyle and practice spiritual disciplines such as personal Bible study and prayer
- Hold to the Christian faith and doctrine in a way that is consistent with the leadership of Steps Ministries (see Doctrinal Statement)
- Seek spiritual harmony with residents, staff & volunteers
Time Requirements Weekly/Monthly:
Weekly youth group 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm
1x quarterly youth event

- Youth Leader

- Ministry Director
Hours: This position would require approximately 3 hours per week.
Pay Rate: This position will be paid at a rate of $18.00/hr
