Lead Pastor Job Description:

 

The Lead Pastor of Praise Fellowship primary responsibility is to lead the body in fulfilling its primary commitment. Praise Fellowship is committed to providing a time and place to worship Almighty God.

 

Striving to be more Christ-like through worship, praying, fasting, and seeking His direction, we study His Word and encourage everyone to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, making disciples through:

 

Leading ministry programs for all age groups

Supporting worship services to come into the presence of Jesus, reach the lost, and challenge the believer through biblical teaching

Supporting discipleship training (teaching, growing)

Supporting outreach (local and international missions)

Involving the local community (serve in unity and fellowship of believers)

 

Lead Pastor Leadership Qualities and Roles:

 

The lead pastor should be able to clearly and passionately communicate biblical truth through sermons and teachings that connect to both believers and non-believers alike. In addition to being biblically grounded in the authority and text of Scripture, sermon messages should offer practical applications.

 

The lead pastor must have a demonstrated gift of organizational leadership, including handling finances wisely, collaboratively providing vision and guidance, and mentoring and discipling members of the staff and leadership team to develop their areas of giftedness in an accountable manner.

The Lead Pastor should be a visionary leader and effective communicator. The Lead Pastor should also have a shepherd’s heart, be a servant leader, and be someone who can provide care, wisdom, and guidance to people of all ages. Praise Fellowship calls for a Lead Pastor who will increase the passion and effectiveness of the church body in community outreach and biblical application.

 

The Lead Pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to preach the biblical revelation, to provide leadership in all areas of church life, and to serve as leader of all paid staff. The Lead Pastor must be open to the Lord’s leading, serve and equip the congregation, witness with the purpose of saving the lost and making disciples, love people and love the God of Heaven and Earth.

• At what age did you decide to become a follower of Jesus Christ? What did that process look like for you, and who were the major influences in your life?

 

• Describe your habits for reading, studying, and meditating upon God’s Word.

 

• Why do you feel called to be a pastor?

 

• As a lead pastor, how would you cultivate a church culture in which producing disciple-making disciples (2 Tim. 2:2) is embraced and normative?
